‘And of course,’ said Lord Sune, ‘the particular Delessian bride he wants is you.’
Princess by birth, rebel by heart. But can she escape the crown—or wield it to save a kingdom?
Princess Teressa of Vorashen, aged twenty-three, has had her life mapped out for her: marry an idiot prince from a neighbouring kingdom to end a long, grinding war. But Teressa has bigger dreams than playing the perfect consort. Governing a kingdom herself? Yes. Glittering gowns and ceremonial ribbon-cutting? Not so much.
As the day of her arranged marriage approaches, Teressa secretly hatches a plan to disappear, ditch the crown, and live life on her own terms. But when she meets the eccentric Lord Theriad Sune in a bookshop, Teressa realises that she cannot walk away from her royal identity after all, and that in fact she can use it, if she chooses, to end the reign of a brutal tyrant.
Now, with a kingdom to save and her freedom at stake, Teressa must decide: will she run from her destiny, or use it to change the world?
